Halloween has come early. For its fans there has been a long wait for Castlevania season 2. After much hype, and a little anxiety, the first season proved to be excellent,  but with just 4 short episodes it was over before it began. The second season improves on this, containing 8 episodes – making it twice the length of the first series. Does the second series live up to the promise of the first, though? Initial reviews seem to think so! IGN have published a glowing review of Castlevania season 2, calling it ‘the new gold standard’ for video game adaptations. The series is also praised for ’emphasizing character growth over mindless action’; something Trevor fans will be pleased to here, and a definite rarity in video game adaptations. The high-standard is perhaps largely due to veteran comic book writer Warren Ellis still penning the series.

The release of Castlevania season 2 brings our Castlevania series to a close, but if you’d like to know more about Vampire fiction, including Bram Stoker’s Dracula, then be sure to check out this SFFN article from writer Valerie Willis on that very subject.
