This week saw another slew of reveals in the form of a Nintendo Indie Showcase. The presentation was packed with new reveals and welcome ports. Titles like OverlandThe Red Lantern and Creature in the Well all seem like wonderful additions to the Switch’s library. Check out the Showcase in full to see all the games features, but here are a few highlights worth keeping an eye on.

Cadence of Hyrule

If you’re a fan of Crypt of the NecroDancer, the popular roguelike rhythm game, then Cadence of Hyrule is going to be a welcome site. As the trailer makes clear this spin-off outing combines with addictive gameplay of NecroDancer with The Legend of Zelda‘s iconic setting. Its an unexpected cross-over, but looks like a good combination that’s sure to generate a lot of interest in NecroDancer. Cross your fingers for a physical release, maybe even a two pack with NecroDancer, as it seems a shame to leave anything with the Zelda brand off of store shelves. The game is scheduled for a spring launch.

Cuphead

One of the biggest indie hits of recent memory finally got confirmed for the Nintendo Switch this week, with Cuphead arriving as soon as April 18th. Cuphead is renowned for its brutal difficult and astounding graphical style, and its bizarre announcement trailer does a wonderful job in communicating that it might not be for everybody. It seems exactly the type of title that’d be at home on the Switch and is no doubt very welcome news to many. The intriguing part is that this arrived in part thanks to Microsoft, which will no doubt fuel future speculation.

Blaster Master Zero II

What would a Nindie showcase be without a surprise launch? Blaster Master Zero was an early and well-received exclusive to the Switch online store, so its great to see a follow-up arrive. Blaster Master Zero II’s trailer gives the strong sense of doing everything the original did well, merely expanding upon it.

RAD

DoubleFine may be working on the long-awaited Psychonauts 2, but that hasn’t stopped them working on RAD. Its a little harder to get a strong sense of what to expect from RAD from the announcement trailer. With a clear style in mind, though, and knowing DoubleFine is behind it makes this a title I’m eager to see more of.

Stranger Things 3: The Game

Lastly there was the firm details given on Stranger Things 3: The Game. Arriving the same day as the third series itself, the game looks to the a pleasing throwback to couch co-op games of the past. Its easy to be cynical about movie and film tie-ins, but hopefully this is a game that delivers.
