It has been more than a year since Lucasfilm and Disney launched a charity initiative called “Force for Change”. Originally, this initiative managed to raise over 4 million dollars donated by fans, which were donated to UNICEF. Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, had said: “We wanted to honor and carry on [George Lucas’s] positive spirit as we start production on Episode VII and use Star Wars to make a difference in the world. “Star Wars: Force for Change” will help us do that, letting us give back to the fans who keep Star Wars alive, and raising much-needed funds for programs like UNICEF’s Innovation Labs.”

Back then, the fans who contributed were given a chance to win a trip to London to look behind the scenes and meet the cast. Now, just before Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits the theaters, a new “Force for Change” campaign has been launched. It was introduced by a video call to some of the previous donors, featuring surprise appearance of Harrison Ford. Starwars.com then released this video, together with the official announcement of the campaign.

Everyone who contributes at least 10$ to “Force for Change” will get the chance to win four tickets to The Force Awakens premiere in London or Los Angeles, walk the red carpet and meet the cast. The money from the campaign will be donated to fifteen different causes, each nominated by one of the cast members, plus J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy. The overview of the causes can be seen at Omaze’s website. The campaign will continue to run until 4th December.
