Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most anticipated titles of the year. An open world action adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions, it is set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. Players take control of Jin Sakai, one of the last Samurai on Tsushima Island and can specialise in three different combat styles, melee using the traditional katana, ranged using a bow and arrow or stealth. The game allows players to explore many different regions of the island from forests, countryside and mountains to shrines, farms and villages all of which have been recreated by the team faithful to the period.
The game has been very well received with praise for its graphics, setting and open world design and combat system. The games plot is entirely fictious with original characters and overall has been well received with the main campaign fleshed out with side stories of each of the games major characters. There have been some complaints regarding the enemy AI and stealth mechanics which haven’t quite lived up to the hype but fortunately the swordplay combat makes up for it. If you’re fan of open world action adventure games or if you always fancied a bit of stealth action in ancient Japan then this title could well be for you.
