The plot is full of holes and the directors were far too excited about the special effects. There is a spaceship chase that goes on way too long and too many instances of ‘so they can all speak English?’ and ‘but you wouldn’t be able to breathe’ – the usual sci-fi fare.
BUT there are enough moments of brilliance to make it worth the trip. Working their way through bureaucracy, Android Bob, gravity boots, wings, lizards with wings, an elephant flying a space ship, Sean Bean, that wedding dress, I’ve always liked dogs, life is all about consumption, steampunk office.
There are more gems that I will let you pick out for yourselves. If you like special effects and your YA Sci-Fi to be heavy on the fantasy and light on the science then you’ll enjoy Jupiter Ascending. Space Princess bubble gum pop, it’s fun!
