After releasing the long-expected Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer a couple of weeks ago, the director J. J. Abrams had stated that it was the last one before the movie itself and that “there will be commercials, but no more trailers”. Apparently, just like with Obi-Wan telling Luke his father was dead, it wasn’t exactly the whole truth. Walt Disney Studios Japan has just released a somewhat different, shorter trailer which features some things we haven’t seen thus far. And I dare say, it’s immensely powerful stuff. Here it is:
Despite being fairly short, this trailer expands some of the scenes we know from the previous trailer. Aside from that, most notably, it shows extra short scenes with Finn and Rey introducing themselves to each other, Kylo Ren and his cross-hilted lightsaber, the immensely epic arrival of TIE fighters to what we can presume to be the skies of Jakku and also a little bit more of BB-8, Leia and Chewbacca. This feels a lot like getting as far as we can, without being spoiled too much. Perhaps, then, the new footage in this trailer truly is the last we are going to see before the film itself.
