CD Projekt Red have announced that a new The Witcher game is now in development. Not many details have been given, just that the new game will run on Unreal Engine 5 and not the REDengine of previous titles. The title has been confirmed as the start of a new saga, so will almost certainly be the first game in a new series.
With so few details, it’s hard to predict what this game will be, but as CD Projekt RED confirmed that Witcher 3 ended Geralt’s storyline, it will most likely be set before or after the previous games. My personal prediction would be a prequel set prior to the Geralt era, in the period when Witchers were at their peak and there were multiple schools. I think it likely, that the player will be able to make a customised Witcher and possibly even choose the Witcher school they trained at. With no details on the release date or even the platforms the title is to be released on, it’s likely the development is in the very early stages, so I wouldn’t grab that silver sword just yet.
