As well as the new World of Warcraft expansion, Blizzard have also announced a new mobile game called Warcraft Arclight Rumble, an action strategy game set in the Warcraft universe. I’ll confess, that I’m surprised they would make their first all new game since Overwatch, a mobile phone title after the whole “Don’t you have phones” debacle; and it’s fair to say that existing Warcraft players aren’t that stoked about the announcement. However, existing fans are likely not the target audience Blizzard are trying to attract, here. Obviously, they thought the Candy Crush crowd would be an easier market to wow. Will it work? Well, I have my doubts but it’s really too early to tell.
The game will be free to play, so expect a similar obsession to microtransactions and loot crates as in World of Warcraft and Overwatch. Ah, wait a minute, World of Warcraft is subscription, isn’t it? And don’t they still charge you for Overwatch? Then expect more obsession. Look, I’m not going to condemn it as a bad game this far from release, but I do worry about how they’re going to monetise the game after seeing their existing titles. My prediction is that if people think Genshin Impact is bad, they’ve seen nothing yet.
Anyway, in Arclight Rumble players build their own armies of miniature heroes and battle them in a multiplayer as well as a campaign mode and more. Exactly how you acquire these miniature heroes has not been confirmed but you level them up in combat and I would be very surprised if boosts or EXP items are not available in the store. Anyway, feel free to check out the release trailer for more information.
