For some months now, we here at the SFFN, along with many of our avid readers, have been eagerly following Quest & The Sign Of The Shining Beast throughout its various phases of development – it is, after all, the first instalment of a new graphic novel series, “A Darkness In Mind”.
Publisher Luna Press Publishing has taken us on a journey by way of an initial interview with artist John Cockshaw and writer Robert S Malan, the short film, an art exhibition, and a further in-depth catch-up, giving readers and art lovers an insightful glimpse of the life of a creative project.
It has been described as:
“… a breathless ride into the realms of spirit, wonder, and terror. The words are sharp, the images sublime, the experience unique … not to be missed.”
Ian Whates – Author of Pelquin’s Comet
“Cockshaw’s visually haunting images perfectly suit Malan’s enthralling storytelling.”
Jay Johnstone – Tolkien Artist
“Epic and haunting. Viscerally realised …”
Ricardo Pinto – Author of The Stone Dance of the Chameleon trilogy
“I haven’t encountered anything quite like it before … a darkly epic and nightmare voyage. A quite extraordinary feat of the imagination.”
Jim Burns – SF & Fantasy artist
And here, at last, is the culmination of this project, with the launch of the graphic novel announced for 29th March 2016, at Eastercon in Manchester, also known as Mancunicon.
